My Yahoo contacts folder was hijacked, and a spammer sent an email several times over several days to everyone in the account. Can't Yahoo catch that violation?
I had Norton antivirus installed when I first got my laptop, but my subscription expired quite some time ago but I was never able to uninstall it from my computer (and my university provides me with a free subscription to McAfee). I just ran a virus/malware scan and removed some things that were affecting my computer, and when it rebooted I started getting these popups from Symantec (connected to Norton) saying "Your email to whoever@wherever was unable to be sent because..." I got tons of them, definitely over 100. The help site for the messages said it was Norton stopping the emails from being sent because they were spam. Thing is, I don't use Outlook Express, nor do I have an email even set up with it. So where exactly did these emails attempt to be sent from? I have Hotmail and Gmail accounts, would it be from there? Or would it have been from Outlook Express? I know if I click an email address on a website (like a "Click here to mail whoever" link), Outlook Express opens up a new message thing, but I've never sent anything from it because I didn't think I had an email address there. Any help greatly appreciated.
There was a spam email sent from MY EMAIL to a few of my friends and some other weird but relevant email addresses... It gave a link to a website who's domain owner originates from beijing (WTF). Email messages that purport to be from me arrive in people's mailboxes but when the recipient clicks on them the message turns out to be spam. I didn't send this crap but the recipients don't know that. How can I stop this?
The password for my Yahoo mail account stopped working (this account is set up so I can sign up for anything online and the spam will get diverted here instead), so I went ahead and got Gmail. I set it up to work with Mail on both of my computers, both running Mac OS X. Is there any way to synchronize the account so that if I file an email in Mail on one computer, it will show up filed in the same place on the other? Help appreciated.
